Gallagher B100 battery Fence Energiser (9/12V)

The B100 from Gallagher is a portable battery energiser for horses, livestock and wildlife. With a charging energy of 0.8 joules (pulse 0.55 J) and an output voltage of 10,000 volts, it is powerful enough for fences up to 10 km under optimum conditions. Under normal conditions, it can power a fence of 3 km. The device is housed in a robust, water-resistant and shockproof box that also fits the battery. This makes the B100 ideal for temporary or remote fences, such as fields without power supply or mobile fences.

Convenient warning lights and protection

The device features two different warning lights. The top red light flashes when the voltage on the fence is sufficient. The bottom light flashes green or red depending on the battery charge level. When the battery is almost empty, the red light flashes and the device automatically switches to a slower mode. When the red light stays on continuously, the device automatically shuts down to prevent the battery from deep discharge.

Adjustable power and pulse frequency

The device also has dials to set the power and pulse frequency according to your situation. The power can be adjusted using the right dial, which also serves as the on-off switch. In position 1, the device delivers its full power and consumes an average of 60 mA. A 12V battery of 85 Ah will then last about 35 days. When your animals are trained to the electric fences and respect them sufficiently, you may consider setting them to the 1/2 position (half power). This reduces power consumption to about 35 mA.

The pulse frequency can be set using the left dial. In the ‘Hare’ position, the device gives a pulse approximately every second. This setting is ideal for training animals but consumes quite a lot of energy. When your animals already respect the fence, it is better to use the ‘Turtle’ setting. In this setting, the device gives a pulse every 3 seconds. In the ‘Sun’ position, the device reduces its pulse interval during the night when pasture animals are less active. The ‘Moon’ setting does the opposite: it reduces the pulse interval during the day, making it more effective against (game) animals that are more active at night.

Charging options and theft protection

The energiser also has a connection for a solar panel to charge the battery. This means you have to charge the battery much less often. Additionally, the battery box can be secured with two padlocks. When you then thread a cable lock through the handle and secure it to a post, both the device and the battery are protected against theft.

Complete delivery, without battery

The B100 comes with a connection cable for the battery, as well as a cable for the fence and the earth stake. For earthing, Gallagher advises using two 1 metre earth stakes. The device is supplied without a 12V battery.

The B100 can also be used with two 9V batteries. This has the advantage that these two batteries have a much higher Ah capacity than one 12V battery, so you have to pay less attention for a longer period of time.
